Earlier this summer we were lucky enough to spend few days on the Amalfi coast with Cesco whose family supply us with delicious Staibano Limoncello. All the lemons used to make the Limoncello come from local suppliers who grow lemons on terraces along the Amalfi coast. Along with our lemon lover friends, we ran a competition to win a weekend trip to the Amalfi Coast! The competition has now closed and the lucky winner was Liz K.
One of the first things we did with Cesco is enjoy a Limoncello Spritz on the terrace of the lemon grove… dreamy right? And Spritz is the drink of the moment, so if you fancy a taster of a fresh new tipple this summer give a Limoncello Spritz a go. We’re converts that’s for sure, and you’ll find it within our Spritz range on our summer menu.
Or if you're not planning on going out, here's our recipe for the perfect Limoncello Spritz, so you're all set to invite friends and family over for an Aperitivo at home!
What you’ll need:
FULL GLASS OF ICE
25ML LIMONCELLO - we always use Staibano
1 ROSEMARY SPRIG
1 SLICE OF LEMON
First, gather your favourite people together along with a selection of antipasto nibbles.
Fill a glass for each person with ice, add around 25ml of limoncello and 100ml of prosecco.
Stir well, then add a slice of lemon to garnish. In our restaurants we also add a sprig of rosemary – it’s not quite how they have them in Italy, but we love the smell, and the sprig doubles up as a plastic free drinks stirrer!
So, gather your favourite people for a catch-up, and enjoy with your favourite Aperitivo nibbles!
